All-You-Can-Eat Restaurant Overcharges for Eating Too Much

Manchuria Restaurant in Houma, Louisiana is a great example of two of the 10 rules for failure: Be a Jerk! and The Customer is Someone You Have to Put up With.

Manchuria Restaurant surprised one of thier regular customers and his cousin-in-law with a bill for $46.40, more than the regular price for the restaurant’s all-you-can-eat buffet! News has it that the restaurant overcharged Ricky Labit and his cousin-in-law, Michael Borrelli, because they ate too much from the restaurant’s all-you-can-eat buffet. Eating too much was not the only issue, though; the other issue was the two were overweight. The following excerpt from an article published on MSNBC tells more:

“Ricky Labit, a 6-foot-3 disabled offshore worker, said he had been a regular at the Manchuria Restaurant located in Houma, eating there as often as three times a week. But on his most recent visit, he said a waitress gave him and his wife’s cousin, Michael Borrelli, a bill for $46.40, roughly double the buffet price for two adults.

‘She says, ‘Y’all fat, and y’all eat too much,” Labit said.

Labit and Borrelli said they felt discriminated against because of their size.

‘I was stunned, that somebody would say something like that. I ain’t that fat, I only weigh 277,’ Borrelli said.”

Ricky Labit and Michael Borrelli weren’t the only two insulted by Manchuria Restaurant. Others who visited the restaurant left reviews at Insider Pages that expressed how they were treated by the restaurant’s staff, and it appears as if the staff not only overcharges customers, but they also insult their customers as soon as they walk through the door.

By being a jerk and failing in customer relationships, the Manchuria Restaurant banned Ricky Labit who visited their establishment at least three times a week. They also banned Ricky’s cousin-in-law. However, after the service the two men received, I’m sure Ricky and Michael had no plans to dine at Manchuria Restuarant again.

Now that word has spread about the customer service Ricky and Michael received from the restaurant, there’s a good chance the word-of-mouth advertising for Manchuria Restaurant will not be good. In fact, word-of-mouth has already spread like fire through the Internet. Here are a few of the other places discussing the issue:
